I directed my first short film last weekend. It’s called “Reversal” and we shot it in Shelton, WA. We arrived on Friday afternoon and shot two flashback scenes downtown at a bar and in an alley. Shooting went late, but we got a great action scene in the alley. On Saturday morning, we moved to our primary location on a forest road. We spend half of the day shooting just the first page of action that happens before the woman in the trunk of the car is discovered. We wrapped the day shortly before we lost our light and retired for the night. Sunday’s shooting started early and consisted of most of the movie’s dialogue and two fight scenes. Shooting concludes with a nighttime driving scene that we shot day for night. Everything looks great and I’m looking forward to starting post.
We’re still seeking funding to get us through post-production. ...

I’ve been booked to direct my first film! It’s a short called “Reversal”. We’ve already cast the two leads and hired the Director of Photography, Composer and Sound Designer/Recordist. The great script is from Seattle writer/actor Jen Page.
Picture this: “A man wakes up behind the wheel of a car with no memory, a gun, and a woman in his trunk. The story that unfolds is full of intrigue as the mystery unravels…”
The film is being produced by Coffee N Donutz Productions (like them on Facebook!), a group that got together on the set of “The Book of Zombie“. We just started our fundraising efforts on IndieGoGo.com: indiegogo.com/Reversal
Please gives a hand – anything helps and there are various gifts at the different levels of support. You know, just like a PBS pledge drive – just without the tote bags!
I also made a promotional video that’s at the top of ...

Here’s my first attempt at a Sock Monster. He’s made with a pair of socks that were starting to wear out. I used a design in the book Stupid Sock Creatures that I found at the library recently. Not bad for my first try…

The Stand, a photo by Dave Zombie on Flickr.
Connor sits on the couch reading The Stand by Stephen King. This is quite surprising since he only recently finished Goodnight Moon.
I shot this with a single flash gelled full orange through a softbox on the right.

Pi, a photo by Dave Zombie on Flickr.
I made this image for Pi Day – 3.14.2011
That’s my Pentax 135mm with Pi shaped Bokeh in the background. I used a remote strobe behind and to the left of the lens and a gold reflector off camera to the right. Shot with a Pentax 50mm 2.0 with a Pi stencil in front of the lens.
