Seattle Zombie Walk Part 4 – Slideshow
Here’s my final post on this year’s Red, White and Dead Zombie walk in Seattle. I just put together a big photo slide-show over at Flickr to use here on my blog. Be sure to hit the full screen button on the lower right! I had a great time shooting this year and I’m looking forward to being there again next year. Every shot was taken with a Pentax 50mm 2.o lens with the Pentax K10D.
Backyard
These shots are from a shoot in the backyard on June 14, 2010. Connor had a great time pulling up weeds and playing with a nice stick that he found. He also really liked sitting in my reclining lawn chair.
Seattle Zombie Walk 2010 – Part 3
Here’s Frank the Bunny and his girlfriend from the Red, White and Dead Zombie Walk last week in Seattle.
Seattle Zombie Walk 2010 – Part 2
Here’s another image from my time at this year’s zombie walk in Seattle. Don’t forget to check out the video that I made for the event and showed to all of the zombies that stayed for the movie. It’s a behind the scenes featurette for The Book of Zombie.
Seattle Zombie Walk 2010 – Part 1
The Red, White and Dead Zombie Walk was another huge success. Seattle once again set the world record and reclaimed the title from the British! Both my wife and ten month old son participated in the walk while I tried to capture as many zombies as possible with my camera.
Gas Works
This must be how I see Gas Works Park. (de)Faced fire hydrants and out of focus rusted towers. It’s one of my favorite places to hang out in Seattle. Great views of Lake Union and downtown. Not seen here… I used to come here to read when I lived nearby.
Wilderness
Connor and I made a trip into the deep wilderness for this photo shoot. He really liked trying to eat the grass. It turns out that it’s hard to shoot and keep him from eating things than I thought. Especially when shooting with a 135mm from twenty feet away.
OK, I lied. We’re just in the back yard.
Corpse Bride
I found this beautiful lady at last year’s zombie walk in Seattle. This shot has since gained popularity since I gave the zomBcon promoters permission to use it. Looking forward to doing some more zombie photography this year.
My previous blog post about the event.
The First Eight Months
Connor was born on September 2nd, 2009. That was a little over eight moths ago. Looking through his pictures I can see him grow and change. Here’s a snapshot of Connor’s life so far in the next ten pictures. It’s so hard to choose just one shot per month to do justice to both his looks and personality.
At just a few minutes old, Connor just took his first breaths.
An outtake from his first photo shoot at eight days old.
Almost one month old.
Almost two months old.
Connor’s three month birthday.
Christmas eve in his Santa suit. Almost four months.
Five month birthday.
February 26, 2010
Seven months old. He can sit by himself now. I haven’t seen that stuffed dog in a while.
Almost eight months.

Connor @ Eight Months
Connor is now eight months old. He likes baths, mushed bananas and walks in the park. One of his favorite toys is a plastic turtle that squirts water. It’s in the shot above next to his foot. It is very fun to chew on. I have a feeling that he’ll be crawling very soon. Click on the small images to see them full size.
Tulip Festival
We drove Connor up to Mount Vernon Washington this weekend for the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. It was about an hour long drive through some beautiful countryside to get there. I knew that we would have some very nice photo opportunities. I wasn’t the only person with pictures on my mind. I spotted a few serious photographers while we were there. I used both the 24mm and 50mm to get these shots.
Connor’s Friends
Yesterday Connor spent the morning playing in a pile of stuffed animals. It’s so much fun when most of your stuffed friends are bigger than you are and you can still lounge on them. My Aunt Leigh says, “I think everyone should see these pictures so all know NOT to get him stuffed animals at Christmas!” I think that one cannot have too many stuffed friends. Connor agrees. Check out the tongue in the shot below. He’s been doing that constantly for the last couple of days. He must be trying to touch his nose. He’s probably watching that Gene Simmons reality show when I’m not around… And what great looking little feet.
Metropolitain, Paris
I love all of the signs at entrances to the Paris Metro stations. They are so iconic that I felt compelled to shoot as many as I could while in Paris for a short time. The shot above is my favorite of the bunch. It’s the Chatelet Station which is a short walk to The Louvre.
Above is Pigalle Station in Montmartre.
Louvre Part Deux
Here’s the Louvre from my trip to Europe in the fall of ‘08. I used a lot of long exposures here – good thing that I always carry my mini tripod with me. The Louvre looks amazing at night. I love the look that a cloudy night gives the city sky in the shot above. The purple, hazy glow is way cool. We didn’t see the museum this time around, but had a great time just taking pictures of the building and fountains. That’s me in the shot at the end of this post. It’s a fifteen second exposure that I walked into after few seconds and then held still for the rest of the shot.
Beer
Traveling the world and drinking good beer is a good thing. There are so many interesting things to try that are hard to come by at home. Here in Washington State we’re lucky to have a great micro-brew industry, but today we’re going to look at a few foreign beers. My favorite shot is the one above. This is at a bar in Vancouver that specializes in Belgian beers. It was my first ever Hoegaarden. Below left is three half liters of Hoffbrauhaus‘ Witbier. Below right is from a bar in Amsterdam. Click on the small images to see them large.

Vancouver
Both these shots are from the trip that we took to Vancouver for my birthday a couple of years ago. This was the first vacation with a DSLR, the Pentax K10D. It’s a great camera and I’m still using it today. The shot above is the Vancouver Public Library. The photo below is a sculpture at English Bay. Both shots are five exposure HDR images. I have a few more interesting shots from this trip. Stay tuned and I’ll post them another time.
Connor @ Seven Months
Connor turned Seven months old yesterday. He can now sit up by himself while eating toys. Remember last month when he was still lying around on the floor? He still does that, but sitting is his new favorite thing. It was a great day to shoot. The sun finally came out and gave us a lot of great light. Click on the small images to see them full size.
Trains and Kites
This is the train yard near the Everett, WA waterfront. Look closely at the tree in the upper right to see the red kite that just got caught. The kid that was flying it is nearby, thinking about how to free it from the bare branches.
The kid has returned and looks up at his kite and wonders how this fate could have befallen him. Just moments ago he was having the time of his life, doing what he loves best. Now he wonders if he will ever get his red kite back and fly it once again. Click on the pictures to see the detail up close.
Connor @ Six Months
It’s hard to believe that Connor is already six months old. He’s actually almost seven months now as I write up this post. The Hawiian shirt picture was actually his birthday and the one above was a few days earlier. On this next birthday shoot I’m sure that I’ll get some shots of him sitting up all by himself. He’s getting pretty good at it.
Making Chili
Here are some images from two chili making sessions. Each shot is a five exposure HDR. A couple of these became very popular on my Flickr page. The chili turned out very good and yes, the habanero batch was quite hot. Click on any of the thumbnails to view full size.
Rocket at The Center of the Universe
The Fremont Rocket is surely the best rocket ever to be mounted to the side of a building. I took this shot a couple of years ago while practicing this new HDR thing that I had just heard about. It’s always been one of my favorites. I like how the process lets you see all of the detail in the dark beneath the rocket and also the brightness in the clouds.
The Blob and The Needle
I’ve been told that this is actually a sculpture of a whale. I just looked back at the five shots that make up this photo and I’m really surprised that it turned out at all. They are really quite bad. This turned out to be my favorite shot of this trip to The Seattle Center. I love the grainyness in the sky and the detail in the blob.
Wink
Wink, from Hellboy II, was part of my short-lived toy 365 project. The whole series can be seen on Flickr. All of the Wink shots are here. The shot above is my favorite of the series and was even featured on Seattlest.com. [Screengrab] The building in the background is the Westlake Tower and the image is a five exposure HDR.
Tigers
I just realized that I didn’t have any shots of Connor wearing any adult sized hats yet. He looks just a little worried wringing his hands. Probably because the hat kept falling down over his face. Connor has a cousin now. His name is Amedeo and is 10 days old today.
